SHS Student Going to the United Nations!

Kate Jackson, a Sundre High grade 12 student, has been selected by the Lions Club International (LCI) for an invitation to the Lions Day with the United Nations. She will be sponsored by LCI to attend a round table discussion at the United Nations headquarters in New York on March 12th.

The topic of discussion is "how can the UN and LCI can work together to accomplish goal number 5 in the UN 2030 Agenda". The 2030 Agenda replaced the UN's Millennium Goals as of Jan 1st 2016. Goal number 5 in the 2030 agenda is to "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls". Kate's role at the round table is to provide the youth perspective as the Lions and dignitaries work through the day to determine concrete steps in achieving this goal by 2030.
