Leos Club Battery Drive

The Leos club and leadership class are collecting dead batteries that will be recycled to make zinc supplements for children in developing nations where zinc deficiencies are endemic. One alkaline battery can provide enough zinc to save one child for one year. Each year 800,000 people die from zinc deficiencies, of whom most are children. This is a competition between block one classes, you can send them in with your teen, or bring them to the office. Feel free to collect from coworkers.
Note: No wet cell batteries (lead acid batteries) like car batteries, quad batteries, industrial batteries.....
We will accept any dry cell batteries (A, AAA, C, D, 9V....). The non alkaline batteries won't be part of the zinc program, but we will still recycle them responsibly for you if you bring them into the school.
