Sundre High School’s 47th May Queen has now drawn to a close.  It was another unbelievable year for the students of Sundre High!  Students, staff, parents, and community members worked together to raise $35,193.  The money will be allocated to a variety of Sundre High Students’ Union projects and activities in the coming year.   The grade 12’s raised over $12,201 to take top honors for their fourth consecutive year.  The Class of 2016’s win resulted in Kate Jackson, and Ben McKinnon being crowned as May Queen and King for the 2015-2016 school year.  Congratulations to all students who worked during May Queen 2016 - amazing results!  You have certainly made us proud!

2016 Sundre High School May King and Queen Candidates: Back Row – Isabel Shand, Dawson McLean, Deshann Valentine, Danny Kamaleddine, Alex Vrdoljak, Ajay Talbot.

Front Row – May Queen Kate Jackson and May King Ben McKinnon.

May Queen is one of the most impactful activities our school does in the community.  Although a great deal of money is raised, May Queen is not just about money and competition.  It’s about a community working together to teach youth about desirable personal characteristics such as responsibility, commitment, initiative, leadership, and respect. Our students are displaying this by donating a portion of this year’s May Queen funds to the Red Cross in support of the Fort McMurray relief efforts.

Thanks to all of our parents and to those employers and community members who hired our students.  Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
